But 13 hours later, we have conquered. This post is our first ever from Urban Impact's very own Yellow House! Thanks for your prayers and support for us to arrive safely.
For 13 hours, we have had inter-van dance parties, pranks, get-to-know-you sessions, and LOTS of snack food. (As it turns out, we probably should've restricted our liquid intake a little more, but who's really counting anyway?)
Over the course of the day, we watched through the windows as the landscape and the weather changed from farmland to woodland to flood plain and from sun to clouds to rain. As we speak, a balmy rain is splattering our windows here in the Yellow House and the air conditioning is running...a distinct difference from March in

As we rest and prepare for the week, we are filled with anticipation. Specifically, our team members are looking for
-an understanding of what has happened here
-a new perspective
-building relationships with the residents of New Orleans
-spontaneous insights
-witnessing grace
-making a difference in the lives of others
-learning about issues of social and financial diversity
and, for all involved, spending a week (or yet another week) in community with our peers as we learn to serve and be served in New Orleans.
